About
Family in the Attic

Elizabeth utilizes her knowledge and her love of elderly to write about them in her first novel, “Family in The Attic.” In her novel, a thread weaves through one character to another, which allows the reader to crawl into the hearts and minds of seniors who are looking for a purpose. Readers get to know these fictional characters, who in their senior years, find life is as good as it can get because they have found the secret of how to live.

In 1996 Elizabeth and her husband Ron established Wadleigh House, a small assisted living home in Dover, New Hampshire. The Wadleigh House motto is “a home away from home.” The residents, their families, and the nursing staff (whom she regards as angels) served as Elizabeth’s teachers. Their struggles, triumphs, and devotions are reflected in her book, “Family in The Attic.” She sees the problems in many elder care situations to be a reflection of a much deeper issue; a culture that is too isolative and separative in nature to meet the needs of its people.

Elizabeth is working on the sequel to “Family in The Attic.” She will bring back the same characters and add a few new ones that will enhance and complete her characters dreams. They work through life’s difficulties with hope, not resignation. Elizabeth’s philosophy, which comes from her brother, is, “I’m not worried about getting old, ‘cause I’m not afraid of it!”
